Welcome to Queenswood School's website
Welcome to Queenswood School
Please revisit the site regularly to keep in touch with all the news from Queenswood School!
The Garden Entrance
Queenswood Music
Queenswood Music is an out-of-hours service for learning instruments and enjoying music.
The Queenswood Singers, a Community Choir (based on the recent BBC2 model!)
meets on Thursday evenings in the school from 6:45 to 8:00 pm.
There is no audition for this and the choir sings a wide variety of different music,
the emphasis being on enjoyment.
The choir is open to anyone of secondary school age and there is no upper age limit!
Please just turn up on Thursdays to join in.
Likewise there are facilities for tuition in Piano, Flute, Clarinet, Theory, Recorder
(Beginnners to advanced - for tuition or consultation lessons), Woodwind Ensembles, etc.
Please contact Mrs Tanner for further information about any aspect of Queenswood Music.
Sing Up
Queenswood School received the prestigious Platinum Award
"for putting singing right at the heart of school life",
according to the nominee from Leeds Music Services.
The award is one of just 40 presented to schools across England by 'Sing Up',
the government-funded national singing programme to encourage young people to sing.
Our Platinum award was presented following a glowing nomination, stating
"singing is completely embedded in the school's culture. Queenswood would be a good
example of best practice in singing for other schools because the music leader is a
talented musician who gives children lots of opportunities".
Visit us to see the special plaque awarded to us to mark our achievement!
