Entry to the School
Entry to the Reception unit is for children who have turned four years of age. There are no assessments for entry
at this stage and a child may enter school the term following their fourth birthday.
Entry to the infants (Years 1 and 2) requires an informal assessment with our Infant Department Co-ordinator,
Mrs Jacqui Whyatt. Places are then offered following the visit to school.
Entry to the Junior Department (for children aged 7-11) is by a written test and an informal interview with the
Head Teacher. This can take place at any time depending on the availability of a place. Once the assessments have
taken place, formal offers are sent out within a few days.
Prior to starting at Queenswood School we will invite your child to spend half a day with us
to help them settle in to the school surroundings and meet their new friends and teachers.
Anyone interested is most warmly invited to visit the school. There are a number of Open Days and Information Days
throughout the year (see the Calendar page for dates and times) when you can visit
without prior arrangement, but the Head Teacher encourages parents to visit school on a normal working day.
Parents may arrange an individual tour of the school with the Head Teacher by contacting the school, on the
telephone number shown above, or
email the Head Teacher.
We hope to welcome you to our school.
